On May 7, Mrs. Gulsen Oztoprak of the Cyprus Fulbright Commission and Fulbright Scholar, Dr. Nancy Sheley of California State University, Long Beach, spoke to approximately ten students at the Near East University American Corner about post-graduate education and student life in the United States. Mrs. Oztoprak described the application procedures and life as an overseas student in the United States, as well as opportunities for scholarships and other forms of financial assistance available at U.S. universities. Dr. Sheley presented an “A-to-Z” of the most important information students need to keep in mind when preparing to study at U.S. universities. Dr. Sheley also spoke about her experiences teaching at CSU Long Beach. Students actively engaged in discussion with both speakers, asking questions about the opportunities offered through U.S. graduate degrees.
