Public Affairs Officer James Ellickson-Brown and members of his staff visited the Cyprus University of Technology (CUT), based in the heart of the old town of Limassol, on Tuesday, March 3. During his visit, Mr. Ellickson-Brown met with the President of the Governing Board of the University, Professor Elpida Keravnou-Papailiou, and other faculty members, who briefed him on the work of the newly-established University and its plans to expand with new academic programs.
CUT was established in 2003 and admitted its first students in 2007. Now in its second year of operation with a population of 800 students, CUT offers ten programs through its five faculties: Applied Arts and Communication; Economics and Management; Engineering and Technology; Geotechnical Sciences and Environmental Management; and Health Sciences. The University offers high-level education in support of Cyprus’ needs in science, technology, economics, and the arts and sciences, with an emphasis on applied research. At the same time, CUT aims to promote cooperation with local industries and help improve the economic sector in Cyprus.
Following the meeting with the President, the group was given a tour of the University’s new facilities, including renovated classic buildings and new laboratories in the center of the old town. The tour concluded at the Language Center, where PAO Ellickson-Brown and CUT faculty discussed academic programs and exchanged ideas for future areas of cooperation. |
