On June 9-13, English Language Specialist David Malatesta presented several workshops for teachers and inspectors from Nicosia, Limassol, Larnaca and Paphos on “How to Make English Teaching Fun.” Malatesta won over the participants with lively sessions demonstrating the latest trends in English teaching. Keeping the instructors engaged throughout, Malatesta led them through activities as if they were the students themselves and had them laughing and on their feet much of the time. Incorporating games and activities like “tick-tack-toe” and “fly-swatters,” the American explained that the key is to have the students speak much more than their teachers tend to, while also keeping the discussion as close to “real life” as possible.
