To help celebrate the spirit of Ramadan as a season to enjoy time with friends and family, and to demonstrate the responsibility that we have to each other and the community, U.S. Ambassador Frank C. Urbancic hosted a dinner for the orphans of SOS Children’s Village at Pronto Restaurant in Nicosia. On September 14, 2009, Ambassador Urbancic and his Embassy colleagues sat down to share a festive meal in honor of over one hundred SOS children and their care-giving “house mothers.” Also joining the celebration were members of the SOS Village’s Board of Directors as well as leading print and broadcast journalists.

In a televised speech that was later broadcast on the news, Ambassador Urbancic noted that this marks the second year that he has hosted a dinner for the SOS children during Ramadan. He also explained how the U.S. Embassy is happy to maintain a close and long-standing relationship with the SOS Children’s Village, which is well-known for its outstanding humanitarian work.
