Like all U.S. government programs in Cyprus, the new USAID-funded Capacity Development Program (CDP) is aimed at facilitating reunification of the island. CDP will address skills gaps in critical areas and is designed to complement other donor programs by providing capacity development and training. Implemented by World Learning, Inc, CDP was officially launched at a reception on May 14 where CDP’s international experts and local partners discussed the ways in which improving service quality and adopting international standards can improve productivity economy-wide. Together with World Learning’s Colin Davies, USAID Representative Alan Davis congratulated the local World Learning team and wished them well as they pursue an ambitious program of training activities targeting local tourist guides, bankers, restaurateurs, teachers and project managers.
