PHOTO REQUIREMENTS

 

We recommend that you print these instructions and take
them with you to your photoshop/photographer.

 


U.S. passport applicants have to submit two (2) identical photos.

Nonimmigrant Visa applicants have to submit one (1) photo only.

Immigrant Visa applicants have to submit three (3) photos each and the U.S. citizen filing the petition (petitioner) must submit one (1) photo."

K and V Visa applicants have to submit two (2) photos each.


The photograph should be:

  • 5 by 5 cm (2 by 2 inches)
  • Taken within the last six months
  • In color against a plain white background without borders
  • Printed on normal photographic paper
  • Full face (no hat, sunglasses, scarves, etc.) with the applicant facing straight ahead, looking neither down nor to the side, with applicant's head centered in the frame and applicant's hair line and ears exposed
  • Head size from chin to top of head must be a minimum of 25mm (1inch), maximum 35mm (1 3/8 inch)
  • Religious head covering is acceptable only when the applicant's face is completely exposed

Applicants should be aware that the Embassy cannot accept any photographs not meeting these requirements, (e.g., photo too small, head size too big, dark or patterned background or computer copies).
