Statement on the Establishment of a Gymnasium in Rizokarpasso

In their meeting at the Embassy today, the Rizokarpasso Committee discussed with Ambassador Michael Klosson the opening of a Gymnasium.  Ambassador Klosson welcomed the understanding achieved between Turkish Cypriots and Greek Cypriots on the establishment of a gymnasium that will serve the Greek Cypriot enclave community in the Karpass.  We applaud the goodwill expressed by the Turkish Cypriot side as well as the constructive atmosphere in which the two sides worked together to achieve this result.

With adoption of practical arrangements, there is reason to hope that the Greek Cypriot community on the Karpass can grow and prosper.

We hope that the two sides can build on this achievement in a spirit of cooperation and make progress in other areas that will advance the prospects for a comprehensive settlement to the Cyprus problem.
