U.S. Embassy Chargé d'Affaires ad interim Andrew Schofer discussed U.S. foreign policy and the latest developments in Cyprus and the Eastern Mediterranean region with a group of graduate students, faculty and staff from the Global Master of Arts Program (GMAP) at Tufts University's Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy.  The GMAP curriculum involves three two-week residency sessions and GMAP organized its winter residency in Nicosia, Cyprus, during the month of January 2012.  Thirty-five mid-career students from all over the world and from various international fields spend the two weeks in classes taught by Fletcher professors.  Cyprus was chosen as the venue for this residency because of its strategic geographical location.  The history of the island and its unresolved conflict also serves as an interesting backdrop and case study for this group of international affairs professionals.  Chargé Schofer welcomed the group and highlighted how the Embassy is working to broaden and deepen its many and varied relationships on the island, including through academic exchanges.
